The Filling Heads Project

What is it?

An empty head is a possibility.

                                                      What can happen in it?

The Filling Heads Project is an open space for artistic collaboration.

We are sending out* digital versions (scanned and in vector format) of an empty head, originally a handprint taken from a recycled foam die. This allows artists from anywhere to reinterpret, transform, and fill these heads with their artistic vision.

If you’re an artist and want to fill a head, reach out—We’ll send you a selection of files to work with.

Let’s see what happens in your head!

* The participation in the Project is free of charge

What is it?

Why?

From the moment we are born, our heads are filled—not by choice, but by the structures that surround us. Advertising, propaganda, religious dogmas, political ideologies, and cultural conditioning shape our perception of reality. This process happens passively, often without our awareness, turning us into vessels of external narratives rather than agents of our own intellectual and creative worlds.

But what if we reclaim that space?

The Filling Heads Project is an act of resistance and re-appropriation. It invites us to take back control over the ideas that inhabit our minds and to replace imposed constructs with art—one of the last true realms of personal and collective freedom. By filling these heads with artistic expression, we affirm the power of creativity as a means of shaping identity, provoking thought, and fostering new ways of seeing.

This project is about possibility, autonomy, and transformation. It challenges the notion that an empty head is a void to be filled by external forces. Instead, it suggests that emptiness is a canvas, a space for dialogue, experimentation, and self-determination.
Through collaboration, we create a network of minds actively shaping meaning rather than passively absorbing it.

Why?

    What’s Next?

The Filling Heads Project is just the beginning—this is more than an artistic collaboration; it’s a movement of creative and intellectual liberation. The question is: where do we take it from here?

A Collective Exhibition <----------------

Imagine a space filled with minds—each one uniquely transformed by a different artist. A collective show featuring all the filled heads could serve as a powerful statement about the diversity of thought, the richness of artistic expression, and the act of reclaiming our mental space through creativity. This exhibition would not only showcase the works but also invite viewers to reflect on the forces that shape their own thinking.

Workshops: Creativity as Liberation <-----------

But this project isn’t just for artists—it’s for everyone.

------> For children, the empty head becomes a playground for imagination. Through creative workshops, kids can project their thoughts, dreams, and emotions onto an open canvas, discovering the joy of self-expression and storytelling.

------>For therapeutic and personal growth settings, filling an empty head can be a way to free the mind, externalizing emotions and thoughts that may feel trapped inside. It can be used in art therapy, mindfulness practices, or even group discussions to help people reflect on their inner world and reshape their narrative.

The act of filling an empty head is both artistic and deeply personal—it’s about taking control, exploring identity, and making space for what truly matters. Whether exhibited, taught, or used as a tool for self-discovery, these heads are more than just forms; they are invitations to think, create, and transform.
